Sam Education Centre (SEC) was founded by Sam Mwalimu Okomo has its director in 2013. Its is  a non-profit community-based school which serves the needy children within the community of Rusinga Island, Kenya. The organization undertakes a number of activities which include:
(i) supporting other initiatives dealing with orphans and vulnerable children within the communities, the ages of the schoolchildren range from 3-12 years.
(ii) HIV-AIDS awareness / home-based care for HIV patients
(iii) widow support through micro financing initiatives
(iv) organic farming
(v) poverty eradication
(vi) girl-child education campaign

The school is offering education project to offer basic education to the orphans and vulnerable (needy children) who could not afford the costs of education in other schools .  Most of the children are orphans who lost their parents due to HIV/AIDs and Malaria, both of which are rampant in the Suba District, where we operate. It is a part of the community development project, working closely with other groups from the community.  SEC hopes to provide education for anyone who wants to learn and help change the world, whether locally or on a larger level.

Now a lot more kids can walk to SEC school in no time to be taught and quality education. In this school, modern teaching methods are applied. This is good since the kids are needy as most of them come from poor background.

Since There is no government funding/support, the whole project solely relies on donation from well wishers and the director himself. The school needs donation from well wishers to support the following programmmes;

1. Support school feeding programme (lunch and breakfast)

2. Buy learning materials/books/pens/chalks etc

3. Buy school uniforms for the orphans

4. Help the school improve its infrasturucture (classrooms/playing grounds/library/sleeping bay

Sec School has saved many children who use to walk long distances to go to few government schools which mostly are overcrowded within the classrooms due to overpopulation. This becomes a challenge for the teacher to handle a bigger number hence lead to poor education.

Infact the kids are looking into a much better future just because they come to Sam Education Centre. We are appeaaling for those who are willing to donate towards our school to visit our donation page or those who wish to come and volunteer.
